Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
Many communities in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions remain underdeveloped, with limited access to essential services such as clean water, electricity, healthcare, and proper sanitation. These challenges have far-reaching impacts on health, education, and overall quality of life.
The burden of water scarcity falls disproportionately on women and girls, who often walk long distances to fetch water. This daily task is time-consuming, physically demanding, and can lead to long-term health issues from carrying heavy loads.
Inadequate sanitation facilities—especially in schools—affect all children, but adolescent girls are particularly impacted. Many are forced to miss school during menstruation due to a lack of safe, private, and hygienic facilities, which disrupts their education and confidence.
Limited access to healthcare services further compounds these challenges. Preventable illnesses and complications continue to claim lives due to the absence of nearby, well-equipped health facilities.
Why WASH Matters
Improved access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene brings transformative benefits, including:
- Better health and reduced disease
- Time and energy savings
- Increased school attendance, especially for girls
- Greater opportunities for education and economic participation
Our Approach
We are committed to supporting marginalized communities through sustainable, long-term solutions that improve access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.
How You Can Help
You can make a lasting impact by supporting rural schools and communities through:
- Construction of handwashing stations in schools
- Drilling of community and school boreholes to provide safe, reliable water
- Installation of rainwater harvesting systems
- Donating water storage tanks to improve water access
- Volunteering to provide sanitation and hygiene education to schoolchildren

Together, we can create healthier communities, keep children in school, and build a foundation for a more dignified and sustainable future.
