Many rural schools in Kenya lack even the most basic educational materials, such as textbooks, notebooks, pens, and uniforms. As a result, students struggle with literacy and foundational skills, which severely limits their academic progress.

📚 Literacy is the foundation of opportunity. Without it, students are denied equal access to secondary school and higher education, ultimately restricting their career options and life potential.

For girls, the situation is even more dire.

• 1 in 10 school-age girls in Kenya misses school each month due to lack of sanitary pads (Ministry of Education, 2021).
• This translates to over 60 learning days missed per year, causing them to fall behind, perform poorly in exams, and in many cases, drop out altogether due to shame or frustration.

Without access to primary and secondary education, girls from low-income households face a cycle of poverty, early marriage, and lost potential.
